Our Goal
To leverage health-related resources to support children and families, so that young children in Washington state are healthy and ready for success in school and life.
Our Approach
Early Learning Health Connections provides resources to help connect health with early learning in Washington state in the broadest sense. We recognize the power of trusted health care providers to influence and support families in their care; the advocacy impact of doctors as champions for young children; and the beneficial effects on child outcomes if “Health” plays an integral role in early learning and early childhood systems in Washington state.
Where are we working?
In the medical home (medical practices), in local communities, and in state level efforts
Who do we support?
- Doctors, nurses, and other health providers
- Health related organizations and institutions, both public and private
- Early Learning organizations, coalitions, and initiatives
- Systems efforts impacting young children and families
What do we provide?
- Technical assistance through one-on-one consultation to health and early learning partners
- Materials and resources to support connections and integration
- Information and connections which help health and early learning partners work together
Early Learning Health Connections is led by Dr. Jill Sells, and is a project of Reach Out and Read Washington State. Launched in 2007, Reach Out and Read Washington State helps makes books part of a healthy childhood through support for Reach Out and Read programs across Washington.
